The high mountains the Andes are sometimes called the backbone of South America. We might then think of the music from those Andes as the bonemarrow: it carries the soul of the continent. Where Spanish influences have blended with indigenous resources, and now form the identity of Andino culture. Bolivian-Dutch singer Charo Durán, together with Chilean guitarist and singer Alvaro Pinto Lyon, performs the soul of the Andes in their new programme “Alma Andina”.
